A headless commerce platform serving 340 storefronts and $180M in annual GMV.

Vertex operated 340 franchise storefronts on a monolithic platform where a catalogue change took nine minutes to propagate and Black Friday required a manual scale-up two days in advance. Franchisees could not set local pricing without a support ticket.
A headless rebuild: Next.js storefronts with incremental static regeneration over a Django commerce core, multi-tenant from the data model up. Franchisees get scoped catalogue, pricing and promotion control; the core keeps global inventory consistent. Cache invalidation is declared per resource rather than guessed, so a price change lands in under a second across every storefront.
Catalogue propagation fell from nine minutes to 800ms. The platform carried Black Friday at 11x baseline traffic with no manual intervention, and support tickets from franchisees dropped by two thirds.
